Tomatin Cu Bocan 1990 Single Malt Whisky
70cl / 52.90% - A 1990 vintage single malt from the Tomatin distillery, released as part of its Cu Bocan series - named for a ghostly hound in the highlands. These releases are smoky expressions, making a change from Tomatin's usual unpeated whiskies. However, the distillery has only been doing short bursts of peated whisky distilling since 2005 - how have they got subtly smoky whisky distilled back in 1990?. Well, this expression is drawn from casks that previously held heavily peated Islay whisky, imparting wafts of smoke to the spirit. Fascinating stuff for sure. 1,400 bottles were produced.
