Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish 2023 Single Malt Whisky
70cl / 51.30% - The White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire has always made whisky appreciating the region's historical and present connection to beer so it's no surprise to see them release a single malt whisky finished in casks previously used to age an award-winning imperial stout. The beer in this case is Necessary Evil, brewed locally up the A6 by the distillery's mates at Thornbridge Brewery.The annual release has taken things up a notch for 2023, however, as these casks, previously used to age the Imperial stout originally contained Pedro Ximenez sherry. It's a double trouble finish that combines two rich and weighty styles and we're bang into it.
