Songs of Auvergne
French folk songs from the province of Auvergne are generally the best known, but through her interpretations on this album Lucie de Vienne Blanc endeavors to restore "authenticity" to the traditional music of Auvergne. Auvergne's wild and difficult terrain, and it's isolation, influenced it's musical culture. To help them deal with the rigors of life, the "Auvergnats" retained and protected most of their customs, language, folklore, and music.
