Recorded in China and Released in 1960 this opera tells the compelling tale of the defense of a city left vulnerable by a disobedient general. Both tragic and triumphant, this opera is an excellent example of the traditional Chinese art form of Peking Opera. The audible acrobatics of the performers lend a level of authenticity only found in live recordings. Liner notes include a synopsis of the play as well as the full script.
