The King's Ginger Liqueur 50cl
Berry Bros & Rudd is Britain's oldest wines and spirits merchant, opening in 1698 and still trading from the same premises. The King's Ginger Liqueur was originally created in 1903 for King Edward VII to provide warmth and revive him after his long automobile drives. The King would endlessly drive in his beloved Daimler car and in 1903 the Royal Physician became concerned about the monarch’s health. He called on Berry Bros. and Rudd for a solution, resulting in a high strength liqueur that would "warm him". The King's Ginger Liqueur is a sweet, spicy, and citrus-flavoured liqueur made from ginger root, which was celebrated for centuries for its medicinal properties. The liqueur is made by macerating fresh ginger root in alcohol and adding lemon oil. Top a small amount with Champagne or sparkling wine for a festive drink or use it in cocktails like a Ginger Mule. Delicious when added to a cheesecake recipe.
