La Rioja Alta are one of the biggest names in Rioja. And in 1991, they took their expertise to Ribera del Duero. Their state-of-the-art winery lies in the acclaimed Anguix province – a place renowned critic Tim Atkin MW considers home to “most of the best wines” in Ribera del Duero. Grapes are hand-picked from three select vineyards, where the high altitude results in vibrant flavours. Under the watchful eye of head winemaker Alejandro Lopéz, the wine is aged for 16 months in French oak, giving it a spicy complexity. Earning 90 points from Decanter, this is proof that La Rioja Alta’s brilliance isn’t limited to just Rioja. Discover flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry jam and forest floor, with notes of mocha, black pepper, liquorice and cloves. Enjoy it with rich red meats, like slow-cooked lamb, or cellar for another decade.
