Château du Poyet Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie Vieilles Vignes 2023, Loire Valley
Muscadet is made for seafood, and this one has lovely notes of lemon, fresh bread, and wet stone. This wine is produced from vines that are at least 25-years-old, hence the name ‘Vieilles Vignes’, and made ‘Sur Lie’ – literally ‘on lees’ – where the wine ages on its fine lees, adding subtle texture, a touch of richness, and delicate savoury notes while retaining the crisp freshness that Muscadet is known for. Château du Poyet, a family-run estate in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre‑et‑Maine AOC, has been expertly managed by the Bonneau family since 1913. Dedicated almost entirely to Melon de Bourgogne, their vineyards produce classic Muscadet wines that showcase old-vine concentration, crisp acidity, and subtle minerality. Expect aromas of lemon, green apple, white flowers, and a streak of salinity. Enjoy with roasted sea bass or salmon poached in white wine.
