Glenmorangie Signet Whisky 70cl
Glenmorangie is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional single malt Scotch whisky. Instead of the traditional honeyed, fruity or floral profile Glenmorangie is known for, this whisky was is darker, richer, and more decadent. While the Signet carries no-age-statement, this secretive whiskey is said to be an element of some of Glenmorangie's oldest and rarest stocks, ranging from 35 to 40 years old. Created from a marriage of whiskies produced from two unique types of malted barley: a single estate Cadboll variety and a rare malted chocolate barley it is distilled twice through Glenmorangie's copper-pot stills, by a team of 16 distillers known as the 'Sixteen Men of Tain'. Created in 2008 and only released once a year, it has become something of a flagship expression for the distillery’s creativity. The Signet won Whisky of the Year in 2016 and is loaded with dark chocolate, toasted spice and coffee bitterness. The Signet’s profile is rich, layered and quite unlike any traditional Highland whisky. It has a luxurious mix of mocha, dark chocolate, dried fruit, cinnamon, roasted nuts, and citrus zest aromas all wrapped in a creamy, syrupy texture. It has a long and spicy finish, showing lingering coffee, cloves, and rich oak. Ideal for sipping neat, or with minimal water to unlock layers.
